Similia includes an integrated Materia Medica section where you can read and search across multiple sources to study remedies and confirm prescriptions.

Basic workflow

Open Materia Medica.
Select a remedy from the list, or filter by name or abbreviation.
Use Search in Materia Medica to find words or phrases within the texts.
Choose a Search Mode depending on how strict you want the match to be.

The remedy list and the Coverage column

The Materia Medica browse table lists remedies with a Coverage column. Coverage is the number of Materia Medica sources in your library that contain that remedy, so a remedy covered by more sources has more material to read. Hovering the value shows "Covered by N sources". You can sort the table by Coverage to find the best-documented remedies first.

Search modes

Materia Medica search supports several modes:

Words in sequence
Words in same sentence
Words in same paragraph
Semantic Search

Keyword search supports prefix matching, hyphenated terms, cross-references, and multi-word filtering.

Semantic Search for Materia Medica

Semantic Search can be used with classic Materia Medica authors and with premium/add-on sources the user owns, including Murphy, Richard Pitt, Mangialavori, Meditative, Griffith, Scholten, Hatherly (The Lacs), Saine (Monographs and Summaries), and Vermeulen sources where available.

Repertorization and Analysis (Selecting Rubrics)

Repertorization in Similia means selecting rubrics from the repertory and analyzing them to see which remedies cover the most important symptoms. Similia makes this fast and visual, so you can focus on clinical reasoning instead of manual counting.

How to repertorize a case in Similia

Open a case, or create a new one.
Create an analysis.
Search for rubrics in the right panel.
Add rubrics to the analysis using the + button.
Review the analysis table to see remedies and scoring across the selected rubrics.
Optionally grade rubrics from 0 to 4 to weight their importance.
The analysis is saved automatically inside the case.

The + button to add rubrics only appears inside an analysis, not in the standalone Repertory section. The standalone Repertory section is for browsing the repertory only.

Quick Repertorization

Quick Repertorization on the home page creates a new case named "Quick case N" with an empty analysis and opens it directly. On larger screens the analysis opens as a split view, with the Repertory search on the left and the selected rubrics on the right. On smaller screens, use the Repertory and Analysis toggle buttons at the top to switch between the two panels. If only one panel is visible on a larger screen, look for the vertical drag handle on the right side of the screen and drag it to reveal the repertory panel.

The Case Notes to Rubrics tool analyzes your consultation notes and suggests relevant rubrics automatically—helping you catch SRP (Strange, Rare & Peculiar) details and speed up repertorization.

Availability: This is a Pro feature and uses AI credits.

Where you’ll find it

Inside a case Analysis, open Notes.

How to use it (AI Analysis)

Write (or paste) your case notes in Notes.
Choose the repertory you want to search (when available): Murphy, Suggesta, Complete, etc.
Click:

AI Analysis to analyze the entire note, or
AI Analyze Selection to analyze only highlighted text.

Wait for the analysis to complete (you’ll see progress while symptoms are processed).
Review the Suggested Rubrics and add the ones that truly match the case.

If your notes are too long

AI analysis has a character limit. If you exceed it, Similia will prompt you to select a portion of your notes and run AI Analyze Selection on that excerpt.

Upload handwritten notes (OCR)

If your notes are handwritten, you can digitize them first:

In Notes, click Upload Notes.
Upload one or more images (JPG/PNG/JPEG).
The AI converts handwriting into plain text and inserts it into your Notes—then you can run AI Analysis as usual.

Live Mode (typed notes → auto-rubrics)

Searching for Rubrics (Semantic Search)

Finding the right rubric in Similia is fast thanks to Semantic Search: you can type symptoms in natural language, the way patients speak, and Similia will surface the most relevant rubrics.

How to search for a symptom or rubric

Open Repertory.
Type your symptom, for example "fear of the dark" or "headache better lying down".
Choose the search type:

Semantic Search, for meaning and context
Keyword Search, for exact words

Review results and open a rubric to see remedies and grades.
Use sorting and filters to refine results, for example by number of remedies.

Finding rubrics that contain particular remedies

To find the rubrics that contain a remedy, use the Remedy filter next to the search input. Open it, search for the remedy, and select it; the results are then limited to rubrics containing that remedy. The pill shows a badge with how many remedies you have selected.

When you select two or more remedies, a Remedy match choice appears:

All remedies: shows only rubrics that contain every selected remedy. This is the default.
Any remedy: shows rubrics that contain at least one of the selected remedies.

With a single remedy selected the choice is hidden, because there is nothing to combine.

Sorting and narrowing results

Sort and the section filter sit as pills next to the search input:
