# Using AI: Photos to Rubrics

# Using AI: Photos to Rubrics

Similia’s **Photos to Rubrics** feature helps you turn a photo of a visible physical symptom into repertory rubrics you can use in your analysis.

> **Availability:** This is a **Pro** feature and uses **AI credits**. It also needs your AI data processing consent.

## What it does

1. The AI looks at the image and extracts a short list of specific symptom phrases (location + appearance/condition).
2. Similia then searches and suggests the most relevant rubrics for those symptom phrases (so you can add them to your repertorization).

The AI is **not** a medical diagnostician. It helps translate what’s visible into repertory language—you decide what is clinically relevant.

## How to use Photos to Rubrics

1. Open a **Case** and create/open an **Analysis**.
2. Click **Analyze Photo** (camera icon). On a phone the button is the camera icon alone, with no text.
3. **Step 1: Upload Photo**
* Upload **one** photo (JPG/PNG/JPEG).
4. If **Select Repertory for Analysis** appears, choose the repertory the rubrics should come from; otherwise Similia chooses for you. Photos to Rubrics suggests rubrics from MetaRepertory (Murphy), Suggesta 2.1, Complete Repertory 2026, Meditative, Griffith or Saine Repertory 2025 if you have at least one of them; otherwise it uses the 7 classical repertories. Other premium repertories (QRep5, The Lacs, Dreams Repertory, New World Veterinary Repertory) are not used for photo suggestions.
5. Click **Analyze**. If the **AI Credits** window appears, click **Continue** (tick **Don't show this again** to skip it next time; closing the window cancels the analysis). If the **AI Data Processing Consent** window appears, click **I Consent** to continue.
6. Review **Suggested Rubrics** and add the ones that truly fit your case.

## Don’t see Analyze Photo?

**Analyze Photo** is hidden when your work mode is set to **Manual**. To show it again, go to **Settings** → **Work mode** (under **Repertory & analysis**) and, under **How you find rubrics**, choose **AI-assisted**.

On a phone, the camera icon is hidden while the analysis grid is open. Close the grid to see it.

## Tips

* Use a clear, well-lit photo (better input = better suggestions).
* Analysis may take up to about a minute.
* If you run out of credits, you’ll be prompted to purchase more.
* Photos to Rubrics needs an internet connection; it is not available while you are working offline (see **Using Similia Offline (Beta)**).

## Privacy

Your photo is sent for AI processing only to produce the analysis results and is not saved to your case. Use only images you have permission to process, and crop out faces, labels or other identifying details. For more details about data handling, see **Is my patient data secure?**
